Barb Simmons
Barb Simmons is an award-winning author whose current focus is her wounded warrior series. She is a retired social worker, having had extensive experience working with people with disabilities. She’s bothered that disabled people are not the hero/heroine of the story near enough. So, she’s on a personal crusade to rectify that situation, one story at a time.
Her special interest in Veterans began when she was in high school, and overwhelmed by the casualty reports from Vietnam, while watching the evening news. She is the proud daughter of LTC John L. Simmons, Ret./US Army. Growing up a Military Brat and having had the opportunity to live abroad and travel extensively has afforded her the chance to experience many exotic locales. This has influenced her work in a big way. Finally settled after many relocations (10 even before finishing high school), she’s put down roots in New Mexico’s lovely Rio Grande Valley with her husband Charlie. They enjoy a quiet life in the country, with their two headstrong canines, Maybelline and Lily, making regular sojourns to see the wonders of New Mexico and the Great Southwest. |
